Organisations · Mental health as strategy · Advisory & blueprint

Mental health is not a benefit.
It is the infrastructure of sustainable performance.

Anyone who takes the health of leaders and employees seriously must invest in it strategically.

The cost in Switzerland

Psychological strain at work is not a soft side issue. It is a major economic factor.

6,5 Mrd.
CHF per year is the cost of work-related stress to the Swiss economy.
~77%
of that comes from presenteeism: present, but performing below capacity (around CHF 5 billion).
~49%
of new disability pensions are granted for a mental health condition, nearly one in two (2000: 36%).
14,9%
of working time is lost on average to absenteeism and presenteeism.

The cost worldwide

The same picture, an order of magnitude larger, and with a clear economic lever.

~12 Mrd.
working days per year are lost globally to depression and anxiety.
~1 Bio.
USD per year in lost productivity from mental health conditions (WHO).
4 : 1
Return: every dollar invested in treating depression and anxiety returns around four.
4,4 Bio.
USD of GDP potential by 2050 from scaling mental health interventions, at USD 5 to 6 return per dollar.

Sources: World Health Organization · The Lancet (Chisholm et al.) · McKinsey Health Institute, 2025 · University of Oxford (British Telecom): around 13% higher productivity in weeks of higher wellbeing.

Every franc invested wisely in mental health comes back several times over.
The question is not whether you can afford it, but whether you can afford not to.

These numbers are not an argument for more wellness. They are an argument for solving the problem where it originates: in leadership, culture and working conditions.

Why most programmes fail

A resilience course against a system that makes people ill is like aspirin for a broken leg.

Fruit baskets, apps and awareness days are well intentioned. But they fall short when the actual causes are left untouched. In my experience, initiatives almost always fail for the same three reasons.

Isolated measures, not a system

A talk, an app, an awareness day. Treating symptoms without reaching the root, an effect that quickly fades.

Leadership doesn't stand behind it

Offering resilience workshops while maintaining a harmful leadership style breeds cynicism.

Nothing gets measured

Energy, psychological safety and trust can be measured today. Without data it stays a gut feeling instead of an investment.

The blueprint · “Healthy Performance”

A framework for healthy performance.

The foundation is a method that draws on practical experience and the latest scientific findings. On this basis we derive an individualised approach together, tailored to organisation, sector and starting point.

I

Diagnosis, not assumption

Make the inner state visible: demands and resources, with real early indicators instead of an annual survey that arrives too late.

II

System before symptom

Work on the conditions, not only the individual: resilience still matters, but as a complement, not a substitute for a healthy system.

III

Leadership as the lever

How leaders communicate, listen and handle pressure shapes the climate more than any strategy. At the same time, they must be given the tools for resilient leadership.

IV

Impact, not activity

Success is measured, not claimed: tangible ROI, continuous monitoring. Prevention produces invisible success that has to be made visible.

How we work together

From a first conversation to a blueprint, and only as far as it makes sense.

01

Getting to know each other

A no-obligation conversation about the situation, your organisation and possible options.

02

Individual project architecture

The blueprint is systematically tailored to your organisation and translated into concrete measures.

03

Implementation (optional)

Much of this can be implemented in-house. If support is wanted, I help you find the right partner.

Experience

Medical depth & entrepreneurial experience.

In recent years I have supported people at the highest level of responsibility and advised numerous organisations, from large corporations and internationally active firms to owner-led SMEs. The focus is never on theory, but on what actually holds in the everyday reality of people, leadership and teams.
